Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis

oil on canvas

The most literary work of the group. A nude female figure, seen from behind, emerges from a decorative ground of butterfly and moth wings, golden floral motifs and near-architectural elements. The skin is rendered nacreous and translucent, as though the body itself were changing substance; in the foreground an iridescent dragonfly seals the theme. This is a painting of thresholds: woman in transformation, the passage from chrysalis to wing, identity turning weightless. Its debt to the Vienna Secession — the gold, the ornament, the precious flatness of the ground — is openly declared and transfigured into a personal key. Pearl whites, gold, blues and warm ochres build an image suspended between dream and symbol.

Umbrella in the Sun

Umbrella in the Sun

oil on canvas

The luminous flip side of the coin. On the seashore a woman with a white parasol, red-striped hat and pale dress is almost dissolved in the summer light. Here the painting turns openly impressionist: form breaks into touches of colour and thick impasto, dress and parasol shimmering as if wind and heat were dematerialising them. The barely sketched blue line of the sea horizon anchors the scene. It is an image of pure atmospheric sensation, where the subject is the figure and the luminosity enveloping it in equal measure.

Woman with Hat and Yellow Skirt

Woman with Hat and Yellow Skirt

oil on canvas

A standing portrait with a cinematic, almost editorial feel. An elegant woman strides through a street rendered in soft focus, wide-brimmed white hat, crisp white shirt and a full yellow skirt gathered in her hands. The patch of yellow is the chromatic focus, warm and ringing, standing out against the grey-ochre surround of the urban setting, where the silhouette of a vintage car can be glimpsed. The brushwork is confident and economical: a few strokes suffice to suggest fabric in motion, a direct gaze, a step. Assurance, style and an easy femininity.

Portrait with Sunglasses

Portrait with Sunglasses

oil on canvas

One of the most contemporary and vibrant of the portraits. A close-up of a young woman with piled, tousled hair, round sunglasses reflecting the sky, a red scarf and a sharply cut jacket. The paint is dense, worked in quick strokes of knife and brush: warm, faintly flushed skin converses with the cool tones of background and clothing, a contrast that lends energy and presence. There is no descriptive indulgence, only the capture of an attitude — modern, self-assured, almost photographic in pose yet wholly painterly in execution.

Winter Stroll

Winter Stroll

oil on canvas

A woman seen from behind rides her bicycle across a wide, wet square, a small dog trotting on a leash beside her. The architecture and passers-by in the background dissolve into a silvery winter haze, while the damp pavement returns cool reflections. The painting is worked entirely with the palette knife: material touches of grey, brown and muted ochre, enlivened by a few warm accents on the bag. It is an image of movement and of solitude in a crowd, governed by the cold, transparent light of winter.

Girl in the Piazza

Girl in the Piazza

oil on canvas

Crouching on the pavement, a girl in a white dress watches the pigeons approaching her. It is a scene of everyday tenderness, caught in a square rendered in warm tones of sepia and ochre, where distant figures blur into the background. The paint, laid with the knife in thick, vibrant impasto, captures the golden light and the whiteness of the dress. A suspended moment of childhood, between curiosity and wonder, painted with affection and great assurance of touch.

Infinite Blue

Infinite Blue

oil on canvas

A woman in a sky-blue dress, a dog at her side, moves along the water’s edge while the wet sand returns her inverted reflection. Sky and sea merge into a single infinite blue, flecked with pink and gold by the glints of light. It is perhaps the most lyrical and joyful work: the impressionist brushwork dissolves contours, and the figure seems to dance across the mirroring surface in an instant of pure lightness. The reflection doubles the subject and turns the beach into a threshold between the real and the dreamed.

Lady in the Room

Lady in the Room

oil on canvas

A seated woman, slightly reclining, gives herself over to a moment of quiet absorption. The teal dress spreads downward until it dissolves into near-abstract strokes, where fabric becomes pure painterly matter. Warm skin and copper hair emerge like a subdued fire against the prevailing cool of greens and turquoises. It is the most gestural and free work of the group: form is barely held, entirely entrusted to the energy of the stroke and the suspended atmosphere of the interior.

Still Life with Blue Pitcher

Still Life with Blue Pitcher

oil on canvas — Still Life

An autumnal still life of warm intimacy: a blue-grey ceramic pitcher holds branches of amber leaves, while cups and bowls rest before it. The dark ground, played on reds and browns, wraps the scene in an almost Baroque chiaroscuro. The heart of the work is the warm–cool contrast between the blue of the vessel and the gold of the leaves, built up in dense, luminous impasto. A painting that celebrates matter and the gathered light of interiors.

Flower Pop

Flower Pop

oil on canvas

A light, lyrical floral composition, far from the material impasto of the figurative oils. On a pale, luminous ground delicate flowers surface, among white and soft-green petals, dotted with lively pops of red, pink and blue that give rhythm to the whole. The painting is soft, almost watercolour-like, favouring transparency and lightness. It is the artist’s most decorative and dreamlike face, where the flower becomes a pretext for a play of colour and light.

Flower Flow

Flower Flow

oil on canvas

Even more rarefied than the previous work, this floral composition seems to surface from a mist of colour. White roses and petals, barely veiled with pink and green, open among flowing stems that descend like a continuous current. Contours are dissolved, the paint thin and transparent: everything is entrusted to the most delicate tonal transitions. An intimate, poetic work, in which the flower becomes almost an apparition, suspended between presence and fading.

Crystal Eyes

Crystal Eyes

oil on canvas

A symbolist portrait in dialogue with Metamorphosis. A young woman with thick copper curls fixes the viewer with eyes of a crystalline blue, while blue butterflies settle in her hair, adorned with small white blossoms like a garland. The turquoise scarf, threaded with golden, almost mosaic-like tesserae, and the gold ground openly recall Klimt and the Vienna Secession. Between Pre-Raphaelite suggestion and fairytale, the work makes the gaze its magnetic centre: limpid, enchanted, suspended between reality and vision.

Air (The Chaos Series)

Air (The Chaos Series)

oil on canvas — The Chaos Series

Part of The Chaos Series devoted to the elements, "Air" shows a female profile merging with a large butterfly-wing headdress, immersed in a cool palette of lilac and blue. Points of light like stardust speckle the background, while tiny white butterflies scatter into the air. A small square of colour, a recurring geometric motif, anchors the composition. Secessionist in descent, the work translates the element of air into lightness, transparency and dream.

Blue Smoke (Early Works)

Blue Smoke (Early Works)

pastel — Early Works

From the Early Works: a slender, elongated female figure in a clinging gown, rendered in blue pastel of Art Deco elegance, among swirls of smoke at her feet. The monochrome blue and decorative curls reveal a more graphic, illustrative hand of the early phase — a record of the artist’s evolution.

Chaos (The Chaos Series)

Chaos (The Chaos Series)

oil on canvas — The Chaos Series

A serene classical female profile is crowned by a whirl of dense, palette-knifed matter in gold, yellow and orange — colour that literally explodes like plumage. The contrast between the quiet face and the chaotic headdress turns the work into a dialogue between order and chaos. It is the most material work of the series, where the very substance of paint becomes the subject.

Devil in the Details

Devil in the Details

oil on canvas

Dark fantasy in oil: a pale, slender being with large black wings guards a glowing orb, one arm sheathed in reptilian scales and claws. The deep red-and-black ground and the piercing gaze build a dramatic, illustrative register unlike the rest of the oeuvre.

Earth (The Chaos Series)

Earth (The Chaos Series)

oil on canvas — The Chaos Series

A reclining, dreaming female profile is enclosed by a vast circular ornament of intricate red-ochre organic filigree, like roots and veins forming a planet around the head. Earthy tones and a cream halo evoke fertility and soil. The element of earth translated into an ornamental, almost cellular structure.

Fire Girl (Early Works)

Fire Girl (Early Works)

oil on canvas — Early Works

From the Early Works: a bold expressionist female nude with raised arms, warm orange-red flesh surrounded by swirling spirals of green, blue and yellow. Vivid complementary contrasts and Fauve energy reveal youthful daring and a strong sense of movement.

Fire (The Chaos Series)

Fire (The Chaos Series)

oil on canvas — The Chaos Series

An incandescent golden ground wraps the profile like a solar flare, while a headdress of blue-and-gold mosaic and streams of light flow outward. Drops and splashes of blue break the glowing radiance. The element of fire as light and irradiation.

Geisha (Early Works)

Geisha (Early Works)

oil on canvas — Early Works

From the Early Works: two stylised figures in a tender, decorative embrace, their kimono quilted with black floral patterns against an ornamental ground of blue swirls. A naïve-decorative sensibility and attention to pattern mark this early, folk-inflected work.

Light Sorceress

Light Sorceress

oil on canvas

A solemn figure with wind-blown auburn hair, wrapped in a cloak, holds a downward-pointing sword before her, her hands in ornate armoured gauntlets. Behind her a grey-blue sea and a clouded, stormy sky. A heroic, fantastical scene with a resolute gaze.

Red in the Rain

Red in the Rain

oil on canvas

An impressionist scene laid with the palette knife: a woman in a red dress with a white umbrella walks away down a wet, mirroring street, other umbrella-bearing figures glimpsed behind her. The red is the chromatic focus against the bluish reflections of the rain — elegance and solitude in the city.

Samurai

Samurai

oil on canvas

Seen from behind, in the wind: a warrior with long loose hair in a black kimono bearing a red sun disc on the back, sword in hand, in a pale grey haze. The red disc is the only accent of colour. The influence of sumi-e ink and Oriental restraint lends the scene a quiet tension.

Temptress

Temptress

oil on canvas

An expressionist portrait: a seated woman in a red dress and wide-brimmed red feathered hat, her skin a pale bluish tone, among red drapery on a mottled blue ground. The bold red-blue contrast and direct gaze build a theatrical, sensual presence.

Auntie from a Far Place

Auntie from a Far Place

oil on canvas

A lively Fauve work: a woman in a patterned green dress holds a yellow parasol, a child in blue beside her, in a sunlit outdoor scene. Colour fragments into vibrant touches of blue, yellow and orange, where chromatic freedom prevails over contour. A joyful, spontaneous image, all light.

Winter Landscape I (Early Works)

Winter Landscape I (Early Works)

oil on canvas — Early Works

From the Early Works: a winter landscape with a bare dark tree and patches of snow along a thawing stream, in a muted palette of ochre, grey and brown. The atmospheric, textured handling reveals a traditional landscape schooling of the early phase. A melancholy winter quiet.

Seascape I (Early Works)

Seascape I (Early Works)

oil on canvas — Early Works

From the Early Works: a shimmering shore with coastal scrub and red poppies in the foreground, while the water scatters into white specks of light and foam. A misty atmosphere and experimental texture mark this early seascape. A silvery mood of the sea.

Seascape II (Early Works)

Seascape II (Early Works)

oil on canvas — Early Works

From the Early Works: a wind-bent pine on golden rocks above a blue sea, in a sunlit plein-air impression. Lively brushwork and the warm contrasts of rock and blue breathe Mediterranean light. A fresh, direct scene caught before the motif.

Seascape III (Early Works)

Seascape III (Early Works)

oil on canvas — Early Works

From the Early Works: a dune flowering with cornflowers and purple blooms among golden grasses, sloping down to the sea. Dense palette-knife impasto builds a luminous, textured surface. A sunny, festive coastal landscape.

Still Life with Overturned Jug

Still Life with Overturned Jug

oil on canvas — Still Life

A classical still life: an overturned ceramic jug among fruit — an orange and apricots — and rosy flowers and leaves scattered on the table. The dark, warm ground wraps the scene in chiaroscuro. A painterly, intimate celebration of matter and light.

Still Life with Teacup and Pansies

Still Life with Teacup and Pansies

oil on canvas — Still Life

A still life: pansies in a gilt teacup, yellow and purple, beside a small bowl, rendered in free, sparkling touches. The play of warm and cool tones and the tremulous light give the scene an intimate serenity.

Still Life with Pansies

Still Life with Pansies

oil on canvas — Still Life

A still life: a bunch of pansies — purple, orange and white — in a blue-and-white pot, beside a small cup, on a warm, shimmering ground. The free, luminous brushwork and vivid colour reveal a mature impressionist hand.
